Venice has some of the most respected, prestigious and
even oldest cultural institutions in the world.
The famous Venice Biennale has promoted new artistic styles
in art, cinema, dance, music and theatre for over a century
now and includes major contemporary art exhibitions in addition
to international events such as the Venice International
Film Festival.
Venice and its surrounding areas are also highly regarded
for their universities, with most fields educated to the
highest international standards. Venice, Verona and Padova,
all of the Veneto region, have universities with the latter
thought in many circles to be the second oldest university
in Italy and third oldest in the world.
